The Mind is Hungry

the mind is hungry
the web is full of junk food
where does one eat around here ?

When you don't have a lot of time, and want something filling, where do you go?
You know, something that doesn't make you feel empty and time-wasted? Not the cheezburger and lolcats, or yesterdays viral video, but something that gives you a sense of wonder and hope, inspires you, brings a tear to your eye. Places where you can easily waste a lot of time, like a library, but don't feel like you're wasting time.

I listen to a lot of public/streaming radio and a few podcasts; I am thinking stuff like This American Life, or The Moth which has really amazing stories.

For simple websites, I had nearly forgotten about PostSecret. This never fails to start the tears flowing. A picture and a secret charged with emotion: regrets and sadness; hope and inspiration; good, bad, and random secret deeds.

For amazing, TEDtalks - Riveting talks by remarkable people.
Instead of grabbing the remote and turning on tv, watch one of these instead.

What are your favorite non-candy sites?
Did this make you think about nourishment of the past that you are missing?

Please share--it's a potluck.

And it doesn't have to be popular. Hidden gems are often the best.
